“Forever Loved, Never Forgotten”

The Navy Gold Star Program is eternally grateful for the sacrifice of those Service Members who have died in service to our country. To help us to never forget, we have set up this tribute page to honor and remember the memory of those lives. If you would like to honor the memory of your Sailor, Soldier, Marine, Airman or Coast Guardsman through the Navy Gold Star website please submit your thoughts and a photo.

Martin enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 24, 2012, with dreams of following in the footsteps of his best friend and father Darrold Martin. An extraordinary Sailor, he quickly moved up the ranks to be the youngest petty officer promoted to the rank of PS1 in more than five years aboard the USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62). He will be remembered by his shipmates, family and friends for his selfless nature, professionalism and infectious smile. His favorite phrase was, “We will figure it out.” His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (4) and Navy Pistol Sharpshooter. He and six shipmates gave the ultimate sacrifice to their Country while aboard the Fitzgerald on June 17, 2017.
