Bells Across America For Fallen Service Members

Each September, Navy Installations around the world participate in a Remembrance Cermony, Bells Across America For Fallen Service Members, to honor those who died while on active duty.  For centuries bells have been used by the Navy for timekeeping, safety and communication, to sound alarms, in ceremonies and events, and to signal the presence of important persons. During these memorial events, the bells rung will not signal anyone's presence, but instead will toll in their absence. These memorial events are a way for the military and local community to honor and remember the sacrifice of our Fallen and the loved ones they left behind. If you would like to know if your installation is participating, please reach out to the Navy Gold Star Program at 888-509-8759 or

The ceremonies hosted in the SouthWest Region are offering a digital slide showcasing the names of sailors lost this past year.  Click here to download a copy.
