“Forever Loved, Never Forgotten”
The Navy Gold Star Program is eternally grateful for the sacrifice of those Service Members who have died
in service to our country. To help us to never forget, we have set up this tribute page to honor and remember the memory
of those lives. If you would like to honor the memory of your Sailor, Soldier, Marine, Airman or Coast Guardsman through
the Navy Gold Star website please submit your thoughts and a photo.
I'm the youngest sister of SGT.Shane P.Duffy (U.S Army). Shane was on leave from his tour in Iraq for Memorial Day weekend 2008. That weekend my high school softball team was playing in our last game of the regular season. Shane, who was also a graduate of my high school Taunton High, was honored at the game for his service after which we had a moment of silence for all the men and women that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Little did we all know, less than two weeks later, Shane would be added to the list of those heroes on 04JUNE08. I had no idea that day would be the last day I'd ever hug my brother. From that day forward his sacrifice fueled my desire to serve our country myself. Three years later I joined the Air Force Reserves and still continue to serve now. I also work for the Department of Veterans Affairs to give back to the men and women that have served our country.
