“Forever Loved, Never Forgotten”

The Navy Gold Star Program is eternally grateful for the sacrifice of those Service Members who have died in service to our country. To help us to never forget, we have set up this tribute page to honor and remember the memory of those lives. If you would like to honor the memory of your Sailor, Soldier, Marine, Airman or Coast Guardsman through the Navy Gold Star website please submit your thoughts and a photo.

CPO Richard DeTienne was born on September 25, 1954. He joined the Navy in 1973 and served for almost 30 years. While in the Navy, Richard DeTienne was affectionally dubbed Chief Gum as his last name was similar to Dentyne gum and was also called Chief D.
Richard DeTienne was married in 1978 and had three children, two daughters and one son. He volunteered for sea duty in order to ensure that his family did not have to move around too often. CPO Richard DeTienne passed away on October 19, 2003.
