“Forever Loved, Never Forgotten”

The Navy Gold Star Program is eternally grateful for the sacrifice of those Service Members who have died in service to our country. To help us to never forget, we have set up this tribute page to honor and remember the memory of those lives. If you would like to honor the memory of your Sailor, Soldier, Marine, Airman or Coast Guardsman through the Navy Gold Star website please submit your thoughts and a photo.

Elizabeth “Beth” Kingsland, was born in New London, CT, and grew up in the nearby town of Mystic. After graduation from Fitch High School in Groton, she attended the University of Connecticut, earning a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics Philosophy. Beth enlisted in the Navy in 2009, and specialized in Cryptology, rising through the ranks, attaining the rank of Petty Officer, First Class. She spent a year at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, before being assigned to Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. “Her passion was languages, and she qualified in more than a dozen languages, including several Arabic dialects,” said her mother. Beth’s ear for languages was, perhaps, related to her interest in music. She had an operatic voice, loved to perform in concerts. She is remembered by her parents, Barbara and Stephanie Kingsland; she was predeceased by her younger sister, Carrie.
